Updated Safety Standards for Household Goods in Korea

The Korean government has announced an amendment to the Safety Standards for Compliance Household Goods to align safety management with the risk levels of various household products. These changes include reclassifying certain items and introducing new standards to ensure enhanced safety.

Key Updates:

  1. Motorized Board
    • The "motorized board" will be reclassified from Supplier Conformity Confirmation Household Goods to Safety Standard Compliance Household Goods.
    • This change will ease safety management requirements for motorized boards.
  2. Engine-Off Heater
    • The "engine-off heater" has been newly added to the Safety Standard Compliance Household Goods category.
    • This addition reflects stricter safety management requirements for the product.

Amended Safety Standards:

The following provisions have been newly established under Article 2, Paragraph 2:

  • 26: Annex 26 (Motorized Board)
  • 27: Annex 27 (Engine-Off Heater)

Effective Date:

The revised standards will take effect one year from the date of their announcement.
