The Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) conducted a safety inspection of 258 overseas direct-purchase products, including electrical appliances, household goods, and children's products, expected to see increased sales during the winter. The results revealed that 45 products (17%) were non-compliant with domestic safety standards—much higher than the domestic product average of 5.8%.
Non-compliant items included electric stoves, foot warmers, electric cushions, DC power supplies, children's toys, and textiles. KATS has disclosed information on these non-compliant products through the Product Safety Information Portal and requested overseas online platforms to block their sales. Additionally, KATS advises consumers to refrain from purchasing uncertified overseas products, as their safety cannot be guaranteed.
