Mandatory Implementation of CCC Certification for Portable Electronic Device Batteries in China

Lithium-ion batteries - Mandatory Implementation of CCC Certification for Portable Electronic Device Batteries in China

From August 1st, 2023, China has implemented mandatory CCC certification for batteries.

Lithium-ion batteries and battery packs used in portable electronic devices are subject to certification. During one-year grace period, they must be tested at testing institutions designated by the Chinese government and obtain CCC certification.

From August 1st, 2024, products that have not obtained CCC certification and certification mark will be prohibited from manufacturing, importing, and selling in China.

As China plans to strengthen its management of battery products in the future, all companies engaged in exporting and selling to China need to be thoroughly prepared.

Portable electronic devices refer to products that users can always carry and weigh 18kg or less. This category includes items such as laptops, tablets, mobile phones, cameras, Bluetooth earphones, portable speakers, portable video game, e-book, and more.

South Korea, obtaining KC certification is essential for selling electrical and electronic products that contain lithium-ion batteries.
Lithium-ion batteries are subject to electrical safety confirmation. They can obtain certificate through testing from designated test laboratories. If there is a CB test certificate and test reports, it can reduce the certification period.
