The Ministry of Science and ICT and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport have announced on December 12 that they have decided to adopt LTE-V2X as the single communication method for the next-generation Cooperative-Intelligent Transport Systems (C-ITS). They further revealed that they will pursue subsequent measures, including the revision of technical standards, in the future.
The next-generation Intelligent Transport System aims to create a safer road environment by providing information such as road conditions, debris, traffic accidents, and surrounding vehicle details to drivers and pedestrians through communication between vehicles and between vehicles and roadside base stations. In the future, this system can contribute to advancing the commercialization of fully autonomous driving by assisting sensor-based autonomous vehicles.
