MSIT Announces Amendment to Ease Licensing for Wireless Power Transmission

Robot Used for Serving
Robot Used for Serving

The Ministry of Science and ICT announced an administrative notice of partial amendment to equipment and devices exempt from permission among radio wave application equipment other than communication facilities on March 4, 2025. Opinions on the amendment will be accepted until March 24, 2025.

Reason for Amendment

There is a procedural burden of obtaining "permission for radio wave application equipment" each time a device is installed for charging robots used in serving, delivery, logistics, etc., with wireless power transmission devices.
To reduce the burden on installation operators and support the growth of the wireless charging industry, the requirement will be changed from individual installation permission to product model-specific conformity assessment.

Main Amendment Details

  • Newly establish target devices among equipment and devices exempt from permission among radio wave application equipment other than communication facilities.
  • Target device scope: Wireless power transmission devices of 1 kilowatt or less used in commercial, light industrial, and industrial environments specified in the electromagnetic compatibility standards under Article 47-3 (1) of the Radio Waves Act.
