39 Products Recalled in Korea, Fire and Safety Risks Identified

Recall Orders for 39 Products in Korea, Including Electric Pads and Oil Heaters

 

As winter approaches, demand for certain products like electric pads and oil heaters surges. In response, the Korean Agency for Technology and Standards (KATS) conducted safety inspections on 1,019 products, spanning 68 categories of electrical appliances, household items, and children's products. Among these, 39 items failed to meet safety standards and have been recalled to protect consumers.

 

Breakdown of the Recalled Products

  1. Electrical Products
    Items posing fire risks include:
    • Electric pads
    • Electric heating pads
    • Electric mats 
    • Electric blankets
  2. Household Items 
    • An oil heater flagged for potential fire hazards
    • Three types of masks found to contain hazardous substances
  3. Children's Products 
    • Two infant textiles with safety issues, such as non-compliant cords or harmful substances like nonylphenol
    • Three toys containing lead and phthalates, posing health risks

 

Ensuring Consumer Safety

To prevent these unsafe products from reaching consumers, KATS has made their details publicly available on the Product Safety Information Center and Consumer24. Additionally, the products have been registered in the Hazardous Product Sales Blocking System, which works with over 250,000 retail outlets and online stores across the country.
